Who are IGEL Technology?

IGEL Technology are a dedicated, Independent Thin-Client Hardware and Software vendor and they were founded in 2001.  Headquartered in Germany with a worldwide presence, they are ranked 3^rd Worldwide for thin clients, and 2^nd for Linux thin clients (IDC).

IGEL have been a Citrix Global Alliance partner since 2002 and achieved the “Citrix-Ready” certification for their thin clients in 2006.  All IGEL Hardware maintains current Citrix Ready certifications and the Firmware supports Citrix XA, XD and VDI-in-a-box.  The Advanced Firmware is certified as HDX ready.

The IGEL Universal Desktop Converter (UDC) software allows you to migrate your existing PC or old thin client hardware into a fully manageable IGEL Universal Desktop thin client-like device. It is capable of delivering Citrix®, VMware and Terminal Server desktop applications.

Bundled with every IGEL thin client is a full version of the IGEL Universal Management Suite. This powerful yet easy-to-use tool allows you to manage all your IGEL thin clients remotely, saving money, reducing time and hassle.

This extension is available in the new UMS Version 4. To permit evaluation of the new extension, the new-version UMS contains five preinstalled test licenses. However, actual deployment of the extension requires payment of an extra fee.

The Shared WorkPlace feature, which can be optionally licensed, is an enhancement of IGEL’s thin client software. It allows user-dependent configuration based on setting profiles created in the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) and linked to the user accounts in the Active Directory.

The new software solution IGEL Universal MultiDisplay allows to combine up to four standard devices cost-effectively into one workstation with up to eight screens which can be remotely administered.
