Heterogeneous Environments

Backing up the heterogeneous environment

SEP

File & Operating System Backup

Data security and availability in heterogeneous networks

The solution offers extensive support for disk and tape based backups and recovery in Windows, Linux and/or Unix environments.

SEP sesam backup solutions were developed especially for client/server architectures. The scope of application of SEP sesam ranges from file servers, to large heterogeneous data processing centres with big databases and scalable Storage-Area-Networks (SAN).

In order to save large quantities of data in a very small backup window, Windows SEP sesam offers Multiplex Backups. This drastically minimises the time that is needed for both scheduled and unscheduled backup tasks.

SEP sesam is the established solution for backups in heterogeneous environments for physical and virtual systems.

Features & Benefits

  • One software solution can replace multiple backup solutions. Backup Microsoft, Linux, Unix and more,      along with databases and popular groupware solutions.
  • SEP sesam backs up and restores, quickly and reliably, all VMware virtual environments as well as      Microsoft HyperV and Citrix XenServer environments.
  • Hot Backup for critical databases is a valuable tool. For many databases, including DB2, Informix, MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle, SAP R/3 and Ingres, by utilizing SEP sesam modules specifically designed for      independent databases, users and System Administrators can recreate a database to a specific time (Point-in-Time) recovery.
  • Our extensive groupware hot backup module abilities for MS Exchange, Lotus Notes, GroupWise, Scalix, OpenXchange, Zarafa and others, allow for single mailbox and single mail restores.
  • Using the SEP sesam Command Line Interface (CLI) or MS Powershell, the user can create his own      backup environment and notification scheme.
  • Efficient, clear representation of Backup Save sets and high performance search algorithms insure data can be restored in the shortest time possible.
  • Recovery can be made to a secondary (backup) server in the event of a disaster.
  • Disaster Recovery modules for Microsoft and Linux allow restoration in the shortest time possible to various like or unlike hardware.
  • Physical to Virtual (P-to-V) Disaster Recovery allows the environment to be recreated to a Virtual Machine, allowing users almost immediate access to critical data.
  • Continuous media accuracy and readability testing to insure data can be read and restored when      necessary. The results are stored for revision for specific recovery and logging.
  • Unlimited data streams can be backed up at one time for rapid data backup. Backup windows can be      reduced up to 80%, while simultaneously increasing backup volumes and reducing cpu loads.
  • Migration and Replication of data to all supported media types (DISK-to-DISK-to-TAPE). Users can schedule migrations (replications) of data from disk to tape, or vice versa, then rotate tapes to off-site storage to provide additional data security.
  • Snapshots from Virtual Machines can be backed up online, without an interim backup, which greatly enhances VM backup and recovery times.
  • Saveset Replication allows data blocks from remote locations to be synchronized and stored in Savesets.
  • Cluster support for Microsoft, Linux, Novell OES2, Novell NetWare, etc.
  • Novell OES Cluster Failover und Fallback Support ensures interrupt free backup. In the event of node failure, SEP sesam finds the data and continues from wherever the backup stopped.
  • HDW-Data De-duplication reduces data storage requirements.
  • The new GUI has been optimised for large IT environments.
  • Backup of MS-Exchange 2010 Database Availability Groups (DAG).

So where you need a solution to work for your entire environment, and perform really well, you should be talking to us about SEP Sesam today.
